Raised from childhood to be a Watcher, a protector against the forces of darkness. Briefly rebelled as a young rogue warlock, before accepting his destiny of studying, tracking, and combating monsters, demons and vampires. As a mentor and father-figure to the Slayer, Buffy Summers, he helped save the world countless times.
He was finally killed at age 52, during an event that cut off magic from Earth. His soul was captured by a demon for a year. Giles was finally resurrected, with one issue - he returned in the body of a teenager. Despite having all his memories, this included having to deal with mental, physical, and hormonal changes.
While weaker in some regards, his younger body was significantly more adept at using magic. He no longer wished to serve as mentor, but he still helped in protecting the world and restoring magic - and taking a central part in rewriting the rules that governed them, becoming vice-president of the Magic Council.

Tropes
As one of the oldest and most responsible in the group, yet with a dark past, Giles was often the one who did what needed to be done, making the hard choices - often to spare others having to do it. Responsibility has weighed heavy on him his entire life, never allowed a proper childhood. He's pledged himself to the defense of the world and the people in it.
His approach in this is based in intellect and wisdom - understanding, preparation, strategy. He usually takes a rational and calculated approach. Violence is never his first option, but it's also not his last. When pushed or hurt, he will absolutely lash out in anger and vengeance. If you're unlucky, you will get his cold fury. He's capable of unspeakable things - yet it's motivated by his love for the world and his friends.

He took a while to regain his purpose and certainty, and to become comfortable with responsibility. Still, his young mind 'buzzes' with nervous energy, and while he's quicker and stronger, it's at the cost of focus. His main frustration has been the inability to drink, drive, or have sex.
While he's stuffy and traditionalist, he's got a dry sense of humour and a love of 60's rock music. He's resistant towards technology, but has recently gotten an appreciation for video games. He's a nerd, but also a rebel. He seems like a prude, but is very passionate. He's an old soul in a young, impatient body. He's a complex man of many contradictions.

Reasonably attractive, though a bit gangly and uncomfortable with his own body. Post-puberty, a strong facial bone structure thankfully makes him look older - even if his voice still sometimes cracks. Generally well-groomed.
Does absolutely not dress his apparent age. Button-ups, khakis, soft sweaters, tweed, ties, sweater vests. Comfortable, practical, respectable. Also wears glasses.
